  1. I have some SD MPEG-2 transport streams that have been ripped from my cable provider's STB from digital cable service. They are the pure MPEG-2 SD signal sent out from the provider, and thus are odd sized, usually at 528x480 with AC-3 2.0. For whatever reason, apps like MPEG StreamClip have a torturous time handling these movies and I am unable to convert them from a transport stream into a program or elementary stream on the mac (there is a PC app called Moonlight Cordless XMuxer Pro, which does a decent, if slow, job). If I use the movie as a source in ffmpegX however, the info of the movie is determined correctly and I can then re-encode to a program stream. But, I would certainly rather not have to re-encode. If there was some way ffmpegX could de-multiplex transport streams instead of just program streams that would be great! It would also suffice if I could just use the passthrough options of the ffmpeg MPEG encoder to convert the transport stream into a program stream. Currently, attempting to use pass-through automatically places the AVI extension on the resulting movie, and removing it and replacing it with .mpg gives me a corrupt movie.

  2. Adding to to-do list.

  3. Thanks major for the fast response. Is that more of a version 1.0 to-do feature, or a version .9s feature? If you need any test files from me as well, let me know.

  4. I don't know, but not 0.0.9s as it is almost ready.

  5. I have a feature request too....which is the ability to pause a process, such as when I want to shut down and move my laptop to another location, and then resume when I get to my new destination. Some encoding processes take 10 hours and it's rare that I don't need to change locations in that time period.

    thanks for considering this feature.

  6. I will add pausing to 1.0.0, this will be resumable after pausing the computer but not after shutdown.

What I'd love to see is the ability to extract the subtitles from a .mkv file when I have to convert the h264 video content to AVI divx (neither my computer nor my xbox media center can handle playing h264 very well).

Currently I have to futz about with mkvinfo and mkvextract to find out what track is the .sub/.idx/.srt file is in and then extract it manually. Would be cool if some of the functionality of the mkvtool GUI that windoze users have could be folded into a future version of the mighty FFMPEGX.

Beautiful program as is none the less, thanks.
