I see that Lite-ON has a new firmware on their site 193 as I know last week it was 191. I'm enjoying my unit with 191 firmware.
Does anyone know what 193 firmware suppose to be about?

Do you happen to know if this disabling of Macrovision also disables CGMS-A? Like what HBO/Cinemax use http://www.hbo.com/corpinfo/faq/cgmsfaq.shtml.
I use the tuner in my 5045 without quality issues so that is why I ask.
I have not tried it yet but I wonder if you or anyone else tried.

  5. neftv,

I don't think the 5045 is made to recognize CGMS-A in the first place. I know the ILO HD04 isn't as I have been able to record HBO/Cinamax movies to my DVR and then to the ILO with no problem.

I have not tried the pay channels yet but I recorded to hard drive a VHS "my big fat greek wedding" for like a couple minutes and it worked. So I'm going to let that record overnight. I will need to get a TBC just to color correct and enhance the VHS quality, not sure what you or others do...
Your pretty good at this code thing. Any chance you can get Rental or Purchased DVD's to copy to hard drive? That has to be in the firmware too doesn't it?

  8. Unfortunatly, I don't hack the code. Someone else figured out the hacks. Once I know the edits though, I am able to apply the hacks to the newer firmware and post them so everyone can get them.

I actually own the ILO DVDRHD04, which is basically the same recorder as the 5045, other that the "All-Write" feature and 160gig HDD.

I have tried your version of 193 and the unit is intermittantly doing funny things. I'll be watching something from the hard drive and the disk drawer will open out of the blue. Or as watching from Hard drive the unit just stops playing, the recorded program was from tuner. And timer kicks in the same time 7pm when it not suppose to like I have something set for weekdays only and on weekends the recorder will still kick in at the same time when I don't want it to even with Sat and Sun unselected. Now this is intermittant one day its fine the next its something. So what I did I put the factory 193 in the unit now and I will report back what I get.
