My home pc gives me a preview when I hover over a post title, my work one doesn't. So far I haven't been able to work out what the difference is between them.

  6. FireFox and IE work on this end for previewing posts, but if you hover over the buttons like "Computer" then FireFox messes it up.

Do you have any special themes applied to Windows? When I used WindowBlinds, it messed up all previews like that. If so, try going back to the original XP theme and see if you can then see previews.

When is the last time you restarted your computer?

If you leave it on for weeks at a time it is good to FreeRam XP Pro once or twice a day Windows and applications in Windows don't close fully and after a few weeks of heavy use windows will start acting funny.

FreeRam XP Pro is a RAM defragger. some people say RAM defragging doesn't work, but I have 1024MB of RAM and after a few weeks is I don't defrag the RAM then the Windows TASK Manger say that I only have like 512MB available when now big applications are running usually in an idle state like this I have 820MB of RAM availbe in the Windows Task Manager.

I run FreeRam XP Pro a few time and my speed comes back but if I let it get to the point of strange behaviour the speed will come back but a lot of strange behaviour will still be present.

You can get this progam free at cnet.com aka download.com.

Works for me, but I have the RAM defraggers I tried before and after didn't really do much.

I just run FreeRam a few times a day I don't keep it running all the time because it does use alot a processing power when freeing RAM..

I welcome comments as to other people's experience with this and other RAM Defraggers.
    snappy phrase

    I don't know what you're talking about.

    @doppletwo:

Wouldn't just a simple reboot cure all ills ?
    If in doubt, Google it.

Yes a reboot works, but it takes like over a minute to reboot. FreeRam only takes like ten seconds. I guess worrying about that small amount of time is silly but look at my avatar.

Is that emoticon me getting the boot? LOL ( not really that hurts man)

My behaviour was was wrong that night/morning but please don't get me booted. Thanks

I just think that a reboot has the added effect of clearing all process trails that are hanging around etc etc as well as a few other features, that make the 30 seconds (for me) well worthwhile. YMMV though
    If in doubt, Google it.

Reboot is thirty seconds up thirty seconds down for me.

Is it thirty seconds round trip for you? that is extremely fast.

I use P2P (only for timeshifting TV signals that I pay for not warez) so it allows me to not lose my connects or lose progress.

    Just a thought here...

I run Outpost firewall...and when it's active, and I hover over a topic, the description box says "View topic" and the box over the latest post says "View latest post"-either on IE6 or Firefox 1.0.

When I turn off the firewall, the hover works correctly...

mastersmurfie: If your browser doesn't support gzipping compressing it will just say "View topic". All newer browsers supports compression but some crappy firewalls(like zonealarm, outpost) disables it.
