Welp, it's out with the old car and in with the new. I currently drive this:

1994 Mazda 626 V6. It's decent enough and has served it's purpose quite nicely. So, in keeping with tradition, here is the car I will be purchasing tomorrow:

2004 Mazda 6s. V6, either silver or black. They are new, but last year's factory produced, so they are knocking 6500 off the sticker price. So I basically get a brand new car with all the warranty and everything for well below what I could get it for USED. Nice deal. I test drove a lot, and this one is definitely fun, looks nice and overall will make me the happiest (I hope). Now I just have to decide if I want the silver (with manual transmission) or the black (with automatic and fog lights...ooooooohhh).
decisions, decisions

Go black, get darkest legal tint, 20" rims, chrome everything else.
Cruise the neighbourhood like a pimp. -

My mistake, you'll need to put two 15" subs in the back to get some "doof doof" and also something both myself and Pyrate forgot to mention, neons.
For a black car I'd recommend green or blue maybe even white. -
I haven't quite decided if you are making fun of me yet or not...
-
Spinners maybe? :P
Nothing can stop me now, 'cause I don't care anymore. -

No neons, spinners or other rubbish. Go for the
black and get after market alloys. Remove the
badges including the front grill decal (leave the chrome
strip.) Add full window tinting. Hot Stuff!! -
I still haven't quite decided if these are backhanded compliments or not...
However, it was between this car, a 2002 Honda Accord V6 and a 2001 Nissan Altmia. This is the only one that comes with a warranty (since it's new) and I like how it looks.
so hmph! -
Just joshing you a bit, the car itself looks the goods.
I'd still get black, dark tinting and some nice mags on it though. I wouldn't bother shaving the badges off it unless they are gold like on some Hondas, uggh. Definitely don't get neons either! Unless picking up drunk 16 y/o skanks is your thing.:P

All I'm doing is going to tint it, install some nice after-market speakers (sorry, but paper cone speakers just don't do it for me), and perhaps... PERHAPS, put in the two 12" JL subs I've had since I was a sophomore in highschool. Right now I'm leaning towards not putting them in solely because I think it might be time to "grow up" a little. I don't know, maybe I'll put 1 in instead of both. It would be nice to have a trunk again.

Boot space is overrated in my opinion.
In a Mazda6 you should have plenty of space left even after two 12" subs. -
I could put 1 in on the back right side above the wheel well in a custom box so it really wouldn't take up any room at all and then just mount the amp on the back of the fold-down seat.

I'd go with the Black.Be careful about buying last years model from a dealer. All that I have read suggests steering clear of this.Actually that would be considered 1 1/2 old.I dont know if 6500 is enough in depreciation. You should be able to knock them down more. They have to be getting anxious. If you can wait, buy it on the last day of the month.Remember the largest proportion of depreciation is in the first 2 years. You might want to look for a low mile, preowned 2003-2004. You would get a good price and a large part of the warrantee

Any car goes down as soon as you drive it off the lot. I've searched from private sellers and their prices are right in line with the dealers price. I'll offer them a price, but don't expect them to come down much. Plus, the private individuals have scuffs, etc in the interior that I am not getting in the new one.
I feel confident in my research, but thank you for the suggestion!
In reality, when I go to sell my car in say 5 or 6 years, the differnce in depreciation between a 2004 and 2005 will probably be less than 1,000, which is MUCH less than I am saving now by going with the 2004 over 2005. From my standpoint (meaning I will be keeping the car awhile), it makes sense for me to save money now and perhaps lose a fraction of that amount when I go to resell it. -
