  1. I am converting my DV AVI into MPEG using TMPGEnc. When these problems first appeared I hopped right into the net, came to this site, and downloaded DV Codecs and others that might help. No luck! I've also changed my plug-in priority and upgraded to the 2.54 version.
What is happening is...(using version 2.51) when I try to load a DV video file it says "not supported". So I close the program and reopen it and I can get the file to convert. It looks and sounds really good when I can get it to go! But I have to continuously close and reopen TMPGEnc for it to convert these files.
When I try to use version 2.54, the DV video converts but the video looks horrible in quality.
And the program sometimes gets mad and closes on me by itself!

Anyone know what could be going on??

A few things you can try.

Make sure your filenames aren't too long or that your file is buried down too many levels in folders. Uninstall TMPGEnc and reinstall. It may not be registering the codecs properly.

Use Virtualdub to frameserve to TMPGEnc encoder. This solves a lot of problems. Look under 'frameserving' in the Guides.

I hope you didn't download a codec pack and install it. That causes all kinds of strange problems. I just use the Panasonic DV codec and have had no problems with DV to TMPGEnc.

  3. Well, I tryed all of that... except for uninstalling and reinstalling TMPGEnc. I downloaded the Panasonic codec and didn't help. I tryed frameserving with VirtualDub and it didn't work.
