A goose down parka with a snorkel hood and outer shell would be better for extream conditions. Actually I think that they have figured out how to do better with synthetic materials now a days

  2. Depends where you live. In my part the lowest it'll go is about 10 degrees but if you go to other parts of Australia you'll get sub zero temperatures.

I've still got my $25 Nike jacket I bought just outside Las Vegas that has lasted a few snow trips and all over America.

I am just giving you a hard time two grand would get me a better car than I am driving or pay me enough to move to a warmer climate

I am not a fashion shopper. Although I do try to buy products made only in my country. (Thats not a political thing, it's a good for your own community thing) Only 100% cotton next to my skin. heavier deninm or wool for the outer layer. I admit that I do have some cotton blends but not many. I go for the function and not the fashion, Ain't trying to impress anybody. Fur is a good natural item but its to hard to maintain and not durable for my lifestyle. Wool is a good choice for durabilty and function and is generaly considered a sound fashion choice. (No gay alarms please) I am talking real he man outerwear here, plaid and camo patterns Yea com'on, Reddneck and back woods, Well doggie!

Want to stay warm, this is the only winter clothing I buy besides Carhart.

Shit lasts forever and I put a beating on outerwear. And if you screw it up you send it back and they fix it. About the only thing they don't guarantee is if you burn it and wear and tear from long use.

goose down no good for most stuff around here -- if it gets wet it is useless, and easy to get wet , much better syntheticsa in that regard ..

no synthetic can match some of the properties of good fur .. but can come darn close .. in some ways better .. but deer skin (with fur ) boots are nice and toasty in cold weather .....

wool is still one of the best things to wear as a layer -- stays warm when wet

Yep thin silk long john's (don't laugh they wick the moisture away) and wool long john's. I have these other sythetics that work great too called Under Armor, it's like a insulated spandex.

I have fleece outerwear with a gortex shell. With the long John's and the outerwear I can stay comfortable in 0 F weather.

Edit:forgot the most important thing my wool hat, that's the ticket.

I'm allergic to down and prefer the thinness of fur.
