  1. Hi, I've downloaded a video which somebody had incorrectly compressed. It's an episode of the 90's X-Men cartoon. The audio/video tracks are perfectly in sync with eachother. However, I believe the framerate is incorrect. When you play it, the movie is going faster than it should be. Where as before the episode would end in about 22 minutes, this one (and 3 others like it) end in about 18 minutes. The audio/video appears to be playing at about +1/2 speed. I first noticed it when a character had a girly voice to him. I used virtualdub to see about changing the framerate, to in effect make it "slower." It worked great for the video, but the audio was still moving at its normal speed (faster than normal I should say). So my question is, how can I change the framerate of the movie while having the audio remain in sync? Do I maybe need to use an external program to "stretch" the audio out to match it to the video?

Any help on this would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks!

  2. Here is a zip with 2 examples in it. The first file is one from a different episode which plays at correct speed. The second is the one that is in question. See how it plays a little faster? Help!

  3. The correct framerate for the avi that is playing to fast seems to be somewhere around 23.976 instead of 25 and this means that you must "stretch" the audio. You can do this by first saving the audio to a wav with virtualdub and then use for example besweet or goldwave for the audio "stretching".

  4. Yeh, thats what I thought I had to do. I tried using BESWEET and did the framerate conversion from 25000 to 23976 and it seems to have fixed the problem. Thanks for the reply!
