    i'm new at this, how long does it usually take to convert a avi to mpeg using tmpgenc so far its been taking me about 3 hours it says i have 12 more hours to go am i doing something wrong??

    Depends on your processor and if you've added lots of noise reduction. Also if your using VFAPI or two pass the time goes up a lot. That doesn't seem too bad, but post your specs.

    I can't really help as much as Shabubu did, but my system (Pentium 3 @ 600 MHz) converts a 600 mb avi to MPeg1 in about 4 hours on Highest Quality. you can compare your system specs to mine.
