Hi
Can anyone help me with hat the correct read speed should be with DVD Decrypter. I am using an NEC 3500ag and it only seems to read at between 2 and 4 speed.
Is this normal??

If you haven't updated the firmware with something newer and not from NEC, then yes. One of the more futile attempts by the DVD industry to stop people backing up their collection was to 'rip-lock' DVD burners. This essentially means artificially slowing them down when reading DVDs, usually to around 2 - 4 speed. You can get hacked firmware that removes this restriction, however updating your drive will invalidate your warranty, and could stop it working completely. This firmware will likely also remove the RPC2 restrictions (4 region changes only), add new media and speed up writing to some existing media, and add features such as bit-setting.
