    whats the positive side of getting one of these burners besides from the l;ooks of it many have them have a faster -r write speed which i like, what else can i do...holla back

    example the new sony dru 710a is an 8x burner, is it aiight, if i bvurn the dvd at 8x, will that do anything, or will it come out just right....and what the hell is the meaning of it actually being dual layer? what can i geta 9.4gb disk and burn two movies on that...holla back

    Well, you can store twice as much on a dual layer disc. (With respect to Video DVD, you don't have to compress the original DVD - just decrypt and burn.)
    The downside is that dual layer media is about 10 times as expensive as single layer...

    That is the only benefit.

    Dual layer blanks are too expensive and compatibility is only about 30%.

  10. Although far from expert, I can say that the Verbatim DL+R's have 100% success in my Lite-on 832s, and my Pioneer A08.
    Playing on Koss KS3123-2, Nexxtech 161-1000, and Norcent DP 313.
