  1. Hi there,
I'm having a big problem with audio being out of sync after converting a video. I am converting from avi to mpg. All audio is in sync in the original avi file.
I used virtualdub to save the wav of the file (the file only has 2 channels) and then used TMPGenc to make the mpg from the avi file and the wav file. After converting though, the audio is behind the video by about 5 seconds. I thought it might be my computer lagging behind but I also checked it in virtualdub and its definitely about 5 seconds behind.
I have also tried using TMPGenc and just using the AVI as the audio source but then I get no sound at all.
Any idea why this is happenning?
    Thanks for reading.

Good job on explaining the problem and the steps you've taken to try and fix it.

Sync problems are usually caused by bad frames in the avi, leading to dropped video frames during encoding - once that happens, the sync is screwed.

Run the AVI through DivFix and reindex it. Remux the AVI with AVI Mux GUI. http://www-user.tu-chemnitz.de/~noe/Video-Zeug/AVIMux%20GUI/index-eng.html#optionen

Once the file is remuxed, look for sync problems in the AVI. If all is good, you should be set to go for MPEG encoding. Encode only the video in TMPGENC, use FFMPEGGUI to do the audio, then mux it the Mpeg tools section of TMPGenc.

    Good luck

  3. Hey,
I'm having the same problem. I tried using DIVFIX, but I received an error that said it "cannot create backup"....

    Hi there,
I'm not sure about your error message because I've never used DIVFIX but the problem with mine was when extracting the audio with Virtualdub, it did not sync with the video (Virtualdub's fault) so I now use Goldwave to extract the WAV and use TMPGEnc to put the audio and video together. Worked everytime since. Hope this is of some help.
