  1. I bought a new computer. Hooked my cable modem and turned it on. But then it restarted everytime I used the internet for approx. 2 or 3 minutes. I thought it was the problem with the computer so I returned it and got one built. The same thing happens.

I'm using the old computer now but I want to know what's wrong with the new one (since I won't be able to return it). No one else I know have this problem.

The old comp's operating system is 98 second ed and the new one is winxp pro...if that has anything to do with it.

This is characteristic of several viruses that have invaded the internet.
You should make sure that you have the latest security patches for XP (or apply Service Pack 2) and that you are running both a firewall and virus protection. In particular you need to protect ports '135' and '445'.

As for the current problem, if it is viral - go to an anti-virus site like www.symantec.com and download and run the latest 'Virus Removal Tools'.
