  1. I have already started to use the
Plextor PX-M402U ConvertX Digital Video Converter to get old PAL VHS onto my pc and compress to DVIX 5.2.1. But the video I have (PAL) is mono. So I only had the left output onto it. i was only playing it on my TV to see the results in DIVX and they were impressive (Video) but I realized then audio was only comming from the left channel !.
I checked further and realized the right channel is CLEAN and left channel has all the audio.
Is there a simple way to make the Divx Mono and use one channel ? so when played both speakers play it or copy the left channel to right with out having to extract it and do the copy and reinput it ?

Whats the fastest way to do it ?
    Thanks in advance

You'll have to fix the audio then remux the new audio with the video.

    Here's how I'd do it:
Load your AVI into Goldwave and follow the instructions here. Save this out to a new WAV file - this will be our new audio source and it should have two channels if you've followed the above link correctly.

Open your AVI with virtualdub, go to Audio > WAV audio and specify the WAV as your audio source. Go to Video > Direct Stream Copy, then Go to Audio > Full Processing, then go to Audio > Compression and set it to MP3 with whatever bitrate you want. When finished setting ewverything up, go to File > Save AVI, and save out to a new AVI file. This will directly copy the video and join it with the new WAV file, while converting the audio to MP3 as it goes. Your new AVI should have two channels now.
    If in doubt, Google it.

The longest thing will be resaving the AVI file. All the rest will take you between 30 seconds and two minutes.
    If in doubt, Google it.

Do you have the option of capturing in mono? You can convert it to stereo when you author or encode. Eliminating having to do it manually, your editor or authoring program should take the mono stream and make it stereo.

    -or-

Head to your local electronics store and pick up a mono to stereo Y adapter. It's a simple plug with 1 rca adapter on one side and splits it two on the other.

RCA "Y" cable adapters work for me. Connect left to the single point of the "Y" and the other two points of the "Y" left and right.
If you really want convenience, you get a switch and connect the left output of one side of the switch this same way and the other side of the switch normally.

  7. I looked at all the options and there is nothing about the mono but i like the Y adapter Idea. I am going to do that for all the other things I am going to capture but for what I have i will do the jimmalenko method

I was thinking that ... the Y adapter is a good solution for future captures, but it doesn't fix the issue with an already-captured file, which is what I thought this thread was about
    If in doubt, Google it.

format to NTFS (you must have FAT). A forum search or google search should reveal heaps of results for this.
    If in doubt, Google it.
