I'm getting this error when I try to load an avi into virtualdub

Couldn't locate decompressor for format 'DIV3' (Microsoft High Speed MPEG-4 V3 [Hack: DivX Low-Motion])

Virtualdub requires a Video for Windows (VFW) compatible codec to decompress video. DirectShow codecs, such as those used by Windows Media Player, are not suitable.

    ..how can i fix this?

thank you, are the warnings i get normal?

  3. What do you mean by normal? Yes, whenever you are missing a VFW codec the normal response from VirtualDub is to give you an error message. No, if everything is working correctly you don't get error messages.

DivX3.11alpha's VFW decoder was buggy if I remember correcly, I would suggest using something else like ffdshow for decoding.

I do have FFDShow installed, but I still get the same error from Virtualdub.
Do I have to configure FFDShow for Virtualdub somehow?
    Thanks

You have to make sure that in the VFW decoder tab of the ffdshow config that it is set to libavcodec for DivX 3 and not disabled.
