I can't get my scanner to work with my new computer. I've tried reinstalling by drivers, installing drivers recently downloaded from manufacturers website, testing the USB bus, and looking at the error log (no errors in it, only messages). I've also downloaded a few windows 98SE USB patches and tried both the usb 1 and 2 settings in my motherboard BIOS.

It's a USB scanner Visioneer 2400u and my computer has a Biostar M7NCD MB running windows 98Se with a bunch of patches.

The Twain screen does come up ad the scanner does make some noise. Sometimes I even get the lamp warmup. Then I hit scan or preview and it waits then I get a "not responding" when I do ctl-alt-delete. I have a suspician that the scanner is not talking back to the computer, but I have no idea how to resolve the situation. Thinking of packing this thing up and just using my digital camera instead for now.

Any ideas? The scanner worked before.

if its on your new computer I take it that it has XP on it? If so...have you tried to scan through the XP camera and scanner wizard? Helped me once when I couldnt get one to scan at a friends house on their computer. Good luck!
If at first you don't succeed; call it version 1.0

Nothing can stop me now, 'cause I don't care anymore.

Actually I just found a Windows 98SE suppliment. It's an unofficial combo of all of the Windows 98SE bug fixes/patches available in one download. I'm going to give it a try. Never knew that Windows 98SE would have trouble with 512MB either. Interesting stuff there:

Will report back once that is done.
