I have a IBM ThinkPad with a DVD drive. When I put in a DVD to play is says the DVD Decoder is missing.
    Where can I find it?

In device manager the drive shows as this:
    MATSHITA UJDA755zDVD/CDRW

I did a search but didn't find anything useful.

    Thanks for any help

I suspect you already have a program on you computer that will play DVDs. Unless it was removed. Most DVD players come with software. If you can't find any, Zoom player is the cheapest ($20) listed in the tools section. The free version does not play DVD. PowerDVD is $45. You could also rip the DVD and just watch the vobs (no menus and such)

You did not read my post,

Media Player Classic will play dvd's and it is free.

There is nothing cheaper than free. It is in the tools section.

Yes you'll still have MP and it should play DVD's once you install Classic. Confused yet?

Because media player classic is not a microsoft product....as far as I know. Frankly IMO it is much better than windows media player.

The reason Media Player doesn't work is because it doesn't have a DVD codec installed by MS. Any player needs a DVD codec to play DVD mpeg. Installing one app with a DVD codec will make the other players work.

    Very true Coalman

Once the codec is installed, then the other apps work as well.
