  1. Hi.

I'm making a corporate DVD that will be sent to several countres. some of them in America, others in Europe.

Of course, the ones sent to Eure should be in PAL and tha ones to amerca in NTSC. Can I make one Master that is both PAL and NTSC?:
Have the user (or the DVDplayer if possible) select PAL or NTSC and play the apropiate videos? Or should I make two masters, to have two versions of the disks?

    Thanks

  2. AFAIK, this is not allowed by the DVD-video specs. You could probably find a way to do it, but the main problem would be that the opening menu has to be PAL or NTSC.

I would suggest either doing 2 versions, one PAL and one NTSC. Or stick to NTSC as most euro DVD players/TV's can play NTSC without problems. The same is not so true with PAL and US equipment.

I can confirm that this is prohibited in the DVD specs, as you can't put both PAL and NTSC in the same volume. I don't think it would cause problems as long as the user still only accessed the files formatted for their region, but like bugster said how do you do this via a menu if there's no guarantee they will be able to see it? I don't think there is a way to make the DVD player choose the correct "path" for you. Different types of data can be registered and called upon to make conditional jumps, but I don't think the PAL/NTSC capabilities or settings of the player can be called upon.

Are you getting these professionally pressed? If so consider making a DVD10 with Pal on one side and NTSC on the other. I think that may be cheaper then going with two DVD5's but you will have ask the pressing company.
