best dvd ripper ?

Hmmm... that's interesting. So you're saying that not only is there no conflict between DVDDecrypter and AnyDVD, but that they actually work very well together? That's good to know, because it answers one of the questions that I had been wondering about for a while.

Yup. DVD Decrypter will rip faster because the disc will not show up as encrypted, so less work for Decrypter.

Guys, I just tested Decrypter and it's indeed very fast, but is it able to change the bitrate to fit a dvd in 4.7G ? Shrink does that but I didn't find any setting for this in Decrypter. Did I miss it or it's not there ?

It's not there. DVDDecrypter is just a ripper, and a ripper only. DVDShrink is a ripper and transcoder, while DVDXCopy is just a transcoder now AFAIK, as is DVD2One. Load the ripped files into DVDShrink and let it do it's thing

Indeed. Before I heard of DVDShrink and DVDDecrypter, I used to believe free software was free because there was something wrong with it. Not that I wouldn't contribute to the development cost if I could afford it.

-please tell me why it's better to rip with Decrypter and shrink it after with DVDShrink instead of going straight with DVDShrink doing two things in one shot. Is it about the quality ?

Nothing at all to do with quality

It is generally quicker, and DVDShrink has been known to choke on certain discs, whereas DVDDecrypter does the job on just about any disc you throw at it.

Yes, almost all. I've seen 6 in 200 that it can't.

There are almost no films that DVDShrink cannot transcode to a 4.35GB disc, and of those it cannot, they're all films that are more than three hours in length. I've even managed to get films that were originally over seven gig in size to fit on one 4.35GB disc, although the picture quality left something to be desired. The only discs that I have failed to transcode using the DVDShrink - DVDDecrypter combo, so far, I have failed because of physical problems with the source disc (CRC errors and the like).

The compress movie can be played using what player? or do we need to uncompress it back?

Besides what jimmalenko already stated, it saves wear and tear on your DVD-drive. Especially when using deep-analyst. Since with DVDshrink the DVD drive runs through the entire process. Where as using DVDdecrypter your Drive is only in use for the ripping process (8 - 15 min), and DVDshrink does all of its work from the hard drive.

When you burn it to a disc, the transcoded movie can be played back in anything that is compatible with the disc format.

Put it this way... say you put a two-hour film onto a DVD+R as your standard DVD-Video file structure. The only thing that will limit what you can play it back on is compatibility with the DVD+R standard.
