external dual layer dvd drive with bitsetting compatablity.

I am DESPERATLY trying to find an external dual layer dvd drive which is either compatable with dvdinfopro or has its own bitsetting firmwre. I live in the UK and I cant find a DVD drive that has these features. Please help me I am running windows xp, service pack one.

Get the internal burner that you like, get an external firewire/USB2 case, put the driver in the external case and that’s it. You will be the owner of an external burner with bit setting support. I’m using a NEC 2500 with hacked firmware in an external firewire case and it works great.

OK that sounds good but good you direct me to any UK sites that sell these cases as I dont really know what I am looking for. This is the first time I have heard about these cases.

I do not know much about places to buy this stuff in UK, but I did a quick search on the web and I found the following site: http://www.starmount.co.uk/ext_case_u2f.htm

I would recommend that you connect it through Firewire, but using USB2 will also work at the cost of a bit higher CPU utilization.

Look over to left under LISTS: Click on DVD Writers. That brings up a search page where you can select BookType/BitSetting under PC DVD Writer features Other features and if you are looking for an external drive you can select USB 2.0 or FireWire/i.Link/IEEE1394 under External connection. That will bring up a list of all writers that are able to be bitset without using a hacked firmware. After that just do a google search for that model and also type in UK or United Kingdom or something of that nature to narrow your search down to where you are located.
