  1. I am using ffmpegX 0.0.9r to convert an .avi file to video_ts to burn on a DVD and watch on my TV. I followed the guide on the ffmpegX site to do this and had no problems in the process.

The 1st time I used "Video Codec: MPEG2 [.MPEG] (mpeg2enc)". The resulting DVD played on my PowerMac G5, but not on my Sony DVD player. The player acted like I had a DVD for some other region and refused to play the DVD.

The 2nd time I used "Video Codec: MPEG2 [.MPEG] (ffmpeg)". This time the video_ts would not play even on the mac.

What can I do to get a DVD that does play on my Sony DVP-NS755V ? I use toast titanium 6.0.7 to burn. I followed the guide to the letter, no deviations.

  3. I kept at it and discovered that ffmpegX for some reason defaulted to PAL for Framerate. After changing that to NTSC I was able to see the resulting DVD on my TV. All is fine now.

  4. If you go to the ffmpegX Forum, you'll see my posts on the same topic. Bottom line: I got lots of errors transcoding from AVI to (intermediate stage) MPV, and errors in the passthrough audio, and fatal errors in the final MPG output. I gave up and used Toast 6.0.7 with Jam 6.0.2 (for AC-3/A52 audio codec support). Worked like a charm. No more messing with ffmpegX for me ...
