Is it ok to put labels on the DVD or does it effect the disc.
If it's ok what label kits would you recommend, if not, what would you recommend to just do the cards in the jewel boxes, I have an HP Laser Jet printer.
What kind of pen can write on the discs, everyone I've bought won't.
Thanks

Better make yourself a cup of coffee to read that one cause its long. But I think it has all the information you are looking for.
In the past I used Sharpie pens to write on both CD and DVD media with no problem. Now I use the Epson R200 to print on inkjet printable media.
There are lots of different kits for printing out inserts for DVDs and Jewel cases. They are all pretty much comparable as far as I can tell unless you are looking for a specific type of paper (matte v. glossy.) If it were me, I'd just pick up one of the kits that Rima.com offers. -
I use the Memorex label system. Print the labels with my Epson color printer.
I have done several hundered DVDs with very little trouble.
I am very careful to make sure that the labels are COMPLETELY dry and then apply useing the Memorex tool.
Good, high quality Brand name media works best (you get what you pay for).
I know that many people have problems with such labels. I dont. -

For anything like movie/data backup, I wouldn't bother. I'd just go with a black sharpie.
