  1. I am trying to create a menu for on a DVD that I want to burn with AVI and Mpeg files. I have tried with ULEAD but when I create the menu my files then take up 3 times more space. So if I try to burn a 700 MB AVI file with a menu it takes 2.1 GB.

Is there a way to create a menu that won't take that much space? All I really want is a data CD with a menu at the beginning. What program can do this?

    Any help is much appreciated.

  2. Data CD with a menu will not work on a DVD player, only the Computer. I think you want to make a SVCD.

I don't think it's possible. Ulead knows that AVI is invalid for DVD, so it is converting your video to MPEG-2 to make a DVD out of it, that's why it's 3 times as big. I have never heard of this, but maybe DivX people have figured out a way to make menus work for DivX. If it works for DivX, you can make it work for what you want. DivX is just one type of AVI. You might go to a DivX forum and ask if it's possible to make interactive menus for DivX.

Well, there was the MicroDVD project:

The idea's to play AVIs back as if they were DVDs. I think this might be what you're looking for.
