Looks like the 512MB models start shipping in a week and 1-2 weeks for the 1GB model.

Just a note. If I really offended anyone with the thread name changes before I'm sorry. I figured everyone understood it was just good fun.

As far as the iPod Shuffle, not enough storage for my taste. I'll continue with my eventual plans for a full fledged iPod.

my 40 gig iPod is delicious!!! tad pricey, and I wouldn't have gotten it if it wasn't for some xmas money.the 20 gig is only 50 bucks more than the mini, and you get 5X as much space. A no brainer in my opinion.

    I know. That's why I got a regulat iPod. :P

My sister's birthday is in a week and a half and she has been bugging me for an iPod. I know she is not going to fill it up so it would just be a waste. This one is perfect for her. Plus, since its a flash-based player, there's no hard drive she can f&^* up.

  7. The shuffle doesn't have a screen though, does it? That would really be a draw-back IMO because it would take forever to just randomly flip through 240 songs to find the one that you want. Of course I think its intended to just have your favorite songs it, so you will want to listen to all of them and never really search like that.

That's what sucks about albums these days. Remember when you could pop in an album and just listen to the whole thing?

  14. BTW incase your interested here is my mp3 player, similar to an ipod shuffle:

I have a 512 MB Lexar Flash drive with it... can hold 120 songs and has a nice screen. Its nice because I can just pop my songs and whatever else, docs, vids, pics, on there too. No drivers or hassle.

It works great! The sound quality is excellent! I got the mp3 player for $35 on amazon, got the 512 Flash as a gift so I don't know how much that is exactly, I would guess that its around $40 though. So you should be able to get this for $75... just look around a little like at amazon and www.bottomdollar.com to see who has the best price. Lexar.com is way overpriced, so I wouldn't buy from there. I've been very happy with it. I really like the idea that I can just take the flash, plug it into any computer (win 98 being the exception) and without installing any drivers or stuff have instant access to my information, rather than have to fumble with extra cords and drivers. Just plug the flash drive into the mp3 player and your ready to go. You can also play wmas if you into that. I really like it, I have some pics, docs, and vids on it right now along with my music. Plus it makes changing music a breeze, just delete what I don't want and drop the new stuff from my itunes library.

One thing is the mp3 player cannot read ID3 tags above version 1.1. This isn't a big deal though because all you have to do is in your itunes library select all your songs, right click and say convert ID3 tags. Within ten minutes you'll be all set.
