Not when it comes out. But if they are good maybe when they are affordable.

  3. I've no idea what that is so I doubt it, unless I feel really flush in which case I may.

It is two processor cores on one chip. It is the next big thing. With this, you will not need hyperthreading.

Both Intel and Amd are starting to do this.

When the price drops to something close to the $50 level and I happen to need a new MB, then yeah maybe then. Might take 10 years for that to happen though.

I just bought a new one so It'll be a couple years. But yeah ...that's what I'll probably get. Unless they're selling 64-bit Athlons for a dollar by then Then I'll buy a few of them and find a WS SMP MB 8)

I think some of the Opterons are already dual-core. I may be investing in a dual- dual-core system this time next year, maybe sooner. Hopefully by that time 64-bit will have more native support.

Before too long, the athlon 64's should be dual core as well.

Not at this stage. If they become standard, well then sure, but not for a couple of years at least.
    If in doubt, Google it.

depends how they bench. i wouldn't think that dual processor machines do twice the work, nor will dual core chips. surely it's all a marketing thing anyway, todays FSB speeds are double what they were just a couple years ago - they'll continue to improve. as long as core architecture continues to improve (Athlon-AthlonXP-Athlon64/754-Athlon64/939 is a good example) having two cores makes no sense. i'm sure the first dual core chip will be beaten by the latest and greatest single core in less than six months.

Ran into a sm. cumputer support guy I know on the way in to work today and asked him if he can get me one. He said in 2 or 3 days he can order one if I want it. 8)

He just bought me this 3GHz Xeon screamer so I won't be buying it. Just curious. Nice that it's available 8)
