Recommendation please

Hi, I have search the forum and theres just too many opions in different places for me to get a real idea so I was hoping I can get some help in one spot here. In august of last year I bought the Panasonic DMR-E30 up in till 2 days ago I was very pleased with it but it started acting up when I turn the unit on it would just show the spinning wheel thingy in its display and not kick in and I have to unplug the unit and try again all the time. I wil most likely get it fixed if it doesnt cose me anything but I want to be a new recorder cause I got a feeling this one is going to be trouble all the time. So what I want is a simple recorder to put my vhs to dvd with good quality...tuner and hd I dont need and am not worried about I will only have about $200 to play with so can you guys give me an idea of a nice recorder for around that much money? thanks

Go for the Pioneer, you wont regret it, easy to use, lots of great features like chase play and trouble free.
Do a search on this, many problems with JVC, Panisonic, and others, nothing but positive on the 220. To me thats the most important feature

Do a search and you'll find many forum users happy with their DVD recorder regardless of brand. Pioneer has had its share of problems as well.

I am an extremely happy Pioneer owner with ZERO regrets. I have two machines (210s & 420H-s) and recommend them both. The 420H-s has a hard drive for cut editing (removing commercials) & assigning precise chapters. (The 520H-s would also be a good choice if you need DV.) The 420H-s works so well I don't need to re-author my discs on computer unless I want a custom menu. There are so many features that I can't list them all! JVC would also be a good choice.

I can't think of any problem I've had with my Pioneer DVR-510H-S in the 6 months I've had it except for the first one I took home having a defective hard drive.

ZERO problems!

Just be sure to use quality discs. Taiyo-Yuden, Maxell, Fuji or TDK. Just look for the stamp that says "Made in Japan."
