Use the DVD button and search for the VIDEO_TS folder(or wherever you have the files).

Rerip all files in the DVD to your hard drive, then try again ...

Or use EazyVCD, which IMO truly is the easiest way to get DVD to VCD.
    If in doubt, Google it.

i was able to extract the dvd to an mpeg file but the size is 1.5Gb... how can it fit my 650-750Mb cdr? how do i reduce the size without splitting the file so that 1 file is 1 disc for a VCD?

it also extracted 2 vob files, 1 is 4Gb is size and 1.8Gb.

    thanks.

VCD is fixed bit rate 1150 kbps, so for a given movie length, you'll get a fixed file size. You must split a too long movie over several VCD. (Some might argue that 1150 is max allowed bit rate for VCD, but honestly, quality will suffer horribly if you go lower.)

If you are using EazyVCD still, try this guide. if you want to do it the manual way, I suggest you search the guides section, or try this guide.
    If in doubt, Google it.
