Isn't DVD+R9 a double sided disk, while DVD+R DL is a dual layer disk? I could be wrong, but that was my understanding.

  5. DVD9
(pronounced as separate letters) (n.) A single-sided, dual-layer DVD that can hold 8.54GB (or fours hours) of audio and video data. It should be noted that DVD-RW and DVD+RW do not support DVD9.

  8. Think of dvdr5 as being a SSSD floppy.
    dvdrdl as being ssdd.
    dvdr9.4 as being dssd.
Next we'll have dsdd at about 19gig per
