  1. Downloaded the trial version of NeoDVD. Looks pretty easy to use. So I encoded a short (3min) .avi file into .mpg. Looks like it worked flawlessly. Cool. So I decided to give it a crack at a whole movie. Using the wizard, I click on add file and open one of my movies. At the bottom of the window it gives you a predicted file size after encoding. With an average size movie (650MB) as an .avi file, predicted .mpg size is over 5G! What the crap man? I edited out the credits and it did bring down file size slightly. Still over 5G. If I decrease the video quality from "best" to "better" the file size shrinks all the way down to like 3.2G. Now, I know everyone else doesn't have to do this, so WTF?

I've used several other encoding programs to go from .avi to .mpg without this problem. What's so special about NeoDVD that's making the .mpg so much larger then with other programs?

A container? Please explain. You mean just a smaller type of file to store my movies on the hard drive? Sorry. I'm a noob.

  7. My post may not be of much help, but I've been wanting to try out version 6 of neoDVD and haven't been able to find a trial download on the mediostream site. The only trials I've noticed have been for XtreamMPEG, neoSLIDESHOW, and neoTV, so where did you obtain this trial from? Thanks.
