adobe has stopped devolopment on many mac products ..

not enough call for them to justify the expense (premeire as an example)

quark is still very popular on macs - as is photoshop

    If in doubt, Google it.

  6. actually, adobe stopped development of premeire on Mac because Apple made a better program. It's called Final Cut Pro.

Actually, that Mac looks alright. But it still doesn't make up for the fact that its old technology, has a smaller hard drive that previously reported, has no monitor nor dvd burner, and also has no mouse or keyboard.

That new iPod is tempting, though. My sister has been bugging me for months to buy her one. I just couldn't justify buying her one seeing as though even I don't have mine full. $100 is a good price.

I already have a Monitor, Mouse, and Keyboard. So all I want is the computer.

Works out great then. You gonna spend the extra $100 for the better drive? Looks like it MUST be a laptop drive in there if I had to take a guess... so tiny...

I should post pics of my PM G5, I'd take it over my XP 3000+ in a heart beat.

I'll probably get one eventually. I think they'll catch on. One good point, of all the spyware and viruses we're always bitching about, especially as a lot here are switching to Firefox, not much of it has any effect on Macs. Not that I wouldn't put Linux on one of my PCs, but I'd probably take the Man mini over a similarly priced SFF Linux PC.

    Funny quote from Apple:
Most low-cost PC manufacturers slap together Frankenstein machines by hacking away features from the high end (of three years ago, anyway) and putting the warmed-over parts in ill-fitting cheap plastic boxes. They don’t really have a choice, since they don’t design any of the parts, from operating system to motherboard.

  17. I've used a G5 and a G4 both running OSX for 3D design and animation as well as everyday tasks like surfing the web and reading email.

I'll take a PC anyday over one of them and they were the top of the line Macs. The myth that Macs are more stable is utter bullcrap if you've ever put them to their limits.

Like my lecturer said, "remember to save your work every 10 minutes or so because it likes to crash alot".

why bother to create a virus for only 3% of the market

Lets sum up the PC vs. Mac thing with a little dialog created by me.

"So the other day I went down to the used car store, found this really nice BMW. Paid about $4000 but its in awsome shape. You should really consider something like that"

"SCREW YOU! I WENT DOWN THERE THIS MORNING AND GOT A USED 1974 THUNDERBIRD FOR $300, MY DAD KNOWS THIS GUY AND I'M PUTTING ROCKET ENGINES ON IT FOR FREE!"

"Uhm... yeah I guess you could do that. Does it have AC and Cruise control?"

"HAHAHA WHO NEEDS THOSE WHEN YOU HAVE A ROCKET CAR!"

    "Hows the ride?"

"PRETTY BAD, BUT WHAT DO YOU EXPECT FROM A ROCKET CAR!!!! MINE CAME WITH 5 WHEELS!"

"You means a spare right? I hope. Mine didn't have one, I'm going to the store tomorrow to fix that."

"HAHAHA ROCKET CAR IS BETTER! ITS GOT MORE WHEELZ!!!"

"Hardly, like I said I'm more concerned with a well made product that won't leave me broke down somewhere."

"I CARRY EXTRA PARTS AND A BLOW TOURCH WITH ME.. ROCKET CAR WILL NEVER STAY DOWN!!"

"Good for you I guess. Enjoy your rocket car. Wanna goto the movies?"

"CAN'T!!! ENGINES FELL OFF ROCKET CAR, MAYBE TOMORROW!?"

we used a crap load of macs where i used to work -- they crashed as much as or more than many of the normal pcs when pushed -- they were useless for running maya or shake on .. but nice for photoshop and quark and web page design ... necessity also dictated i used macs for avid systems and protools .. but those were being replaced with windows based upgraded systems as even avid doesnt push the apple anymore ..

i DO like apples .. they make a good machine -- but the attitude of the users is what i can not stand ..

Were they OS9? Cause I hated supporting that OS. The extentions system was way bloated and lead to lots of crashing if you installed alot of stuff. Printers and Scanners mixed with Office and some Pro app and them BAM. System blows.

If a modern mac is crashing alot something is wrong with it and it should be fixed. OR something is wrong with the app. "I'm looking at YOU Virtual PC 7"

os9 - yes and first versions of osx .. except most of the people couldnt move to osx - as many of the apps they had didnt work with it , and t expensive to replace everything .

even osx crashes on some apps quite well --

Yeah cause maketing never lies right? To me people who say "I just dont like the companies attitude." are making an excuse. Either a product is good or its not. I think windex ads are dumb but I still use windex.

i didnt mean to single out ONLY apple as being false marketers -- they are just really good at it -- jobs has always been this way -- but to his credit , he certainly believes in his vision ... mr gates is no different ..

I like my little G4 cube at work. IT's an underpowered 5 year old machine but it runs right along. I think for the price i'll pick up the 80gb model. I work with Flaystus supporting Macs. He and i both are primarilly PC users and i probably will be forever. But at that price I can definately see myself, as well as MANY people buying them. Even the baseline eMac's are still over $800. And they really arent that great, these new Mini's will definately seal their fate.

I wont get into the whole Mac versus PC discussion "thinks of my co worker Jack" because its useless and dumb. I like both for different reasons.

it is a GOOD thing there are both (and other choices for that mater - though not many) , same with the stupid INTEL vs. AMD debate .. I am just glad there are more than one choice as it benefits us , the end users, greatly ...
