  1. This problem is bugging me a lot. I have some home videos in mpeg-2 format that were created either from Sonic MyDVD or TMPGEnc (w/ quicktime plugins installed). Everytime I tried to open these mpegs with QuickTime I get the following message:

Couldn't open the file "<filename>.mpg" because it is not a file QuickTime understands.

I can use any other player except QuickTime. I even uninstalled and re-installed with latest version and still it won't open mpg files.

    Any clues???

    Thanks.
