  1. Hi All:

I am interested in getting a camcorder that directly records on DVD/mpeg2 to replace my broken DV camcorder. With DV tape, I transfer to my PC in avi and do editing. Are there editors that can edit directly in mpeg2 and create a new video also in mpeg2?

    thanks

  2. I wouldnt get that Camcorder , if you want to edit ,you can edit Mpg but it is not the best for that ,DV is better to edit.

If you looking for the best quality I'd avoid a direct to DVD cam. They have tyo convert on the fly for one which isn't exactly the best method for creating MPEG's. But yes you can edit MPEG but to maintain the best quality you need a editor that won't reencode the footage that wasn't edited, additionally your locked into whatever video settings the cam uses if you want to maintain that quality.
