I purchased a DVD ( a lecture ) from the USA, but when inserted into my DVD player, it informs me that it is a VCD, and refuses to play it, although the DVD player's manufacturer says that it should play, but some VCD's sometimes don't. It will, however, play on my PC. Wanting to watch it with my family on the comfort of my sofa, I decided to transfer the files to a DVD proper, which I did via DVD Shrink. ( I copied the files onto my hard drive, then dragged them into DVD Shrink. The files were .BUP, .NFO and .VOB, which all appear to be DVD file types.) The "new" DVD now plays on my DVD player, but about every 2 to 3 minutes, it freezes, and with what seems like great effort, it starts again. Anyone advise as to what's gone wrong, please.

You should use a guide/program that is specific to vcd to dvd. Check the guide tool sections,

The guides all show how to convert VCD files ( .DAT and MPEG ) to DVD files (.VOB, etc). The files on my alleged VCD are already .VOB, .NFO and .BUP, which, I am led to believe, are all DVD files. That's what makes me wonder why my DVD player told me it was a VCD, and that's why I thought it a simple matter to burn DVD files onto DVD disk.
