I have a Microtek 4800, using the included ScanWizard 5 ( v. 5.95) software. The biggest issue I have come across so far is that the default scanned image seem to shift to the right ever so slightly, so the label picture is cropped by a few millimeters on the right and bottom.

And unfortunately, this software only comes with the following filters: Blur, Edge Enhancement, Emboss, Unsharp Masking and Sharpen. It does have a "Descreen" feature, with Newspaper, Magazine and Art Magazine options, so it's probably for selecting the source material.

  2. I have the same exact scanner
I don't have the shift problem though.
I set up the scan area to about 4.90 which is slightly larger than the DVD. Then a have a setting for white/black points that makes the background of the shield to more white than (on mine) a greenish hue.
I would scan it at 600 with the descreen set to Art mag. then just open the file up in Epson Print CD and save all the other step to when you are confortable with your editing software.
