  1. hi all. long time browser, first time poster. i have used tutorials found here with much success since this was vcdhelp.
    after all i have learned here..i thank you all.
    1 question i need answered as i have never found a bang on answer for it..

    i am curious to the advantages/disadvantages of ripping the audio from a divx/xvid file prior to converting to burn.

    Converting to what? I'll presume DVD mpeg.
    If so:
    The audio part may be in a format not accepted by(or causing problems for) the mpeg encoder (TMPGEnc and VBR MP3 for instance).
    The audio might already be in a format fit for DVD (AC3)
    The best video encoder is rarely he best audio encoder (and vice versa) thus best handled separately.
    Disadvantage is that the demuxing might introduce sync problems that could have been avoided, had audio and video been reencoded as one process.
