  4. If you've captured to MPEG, demux then remux with bbmpeg ala guides. There's an option to start audio and video at different times, set your audio later by how much out you think. You could try timing it but trial and error will probably be the way to go. If your using an avi then change the delay audio option in interleaving in virtualdub.

  5. Here are sme suggestions:

    - Make sure your software is up to date (MovieStar 4.23 is the latest version)
    - Visit http://www.dazzle.com/ and search for sync in their support page to learn more.
    - Optimize your system per their recommendations
    - Try lowering your capture settings

I own the DVC USB and I had a tape that would not sync for me. I tried all of the above, and nothing helped. I even contacted customer support and was basically told that some tapes will NEVER sync. GREAT! I ended up doing something very much like Dhruv recommended and got the tape done in spite of these problems.

One thing to consider -- since your audio is coming first, your system is dropping audio packets. In Control Panel (Multimedia) check your Recording settings and lower your Sample Rate Conversation quality. This may help.

    Good Luck,

Why don't you capture to .avi and then convert to TMPGEnc?

because the Dazzle DVC only captures to mpg and only supports the propriotary Movie Star software that comes with it for capturing

I am not sure that will work for him.

The DVC is known for dropping a/v packets during the capture and will gradually go out of sync. Adjusting the audio may sync up the beginning of the clip, but may also make everything by the end of the clip quite out of sync.

The problem I had (that was similar to this) was that the sync was good to start and then by the end of the clip it was off a few seconds. I found that the DVC was dropping about 1/4 - 1/2 seconds worth of video every minute or two. I ended up demuxing the audio, removing very small sections of audio every so often and then muxing it back up. It was nasty work, lots of trial and error, but it got me what I wanted in the end.

Now all I want for Christmas is a DVC II so I can pitch my DVC!

  11. Sorry I don't have any suggestions on how to fix this problem, but I can offer something. I bought the Dazzle DVC II last June and have copied entire movies and tv programs that were 2+ hours long and at highest recording settings without any sync problems. In fact, I haven't had a sync issue yet. Here are my specs for those of you who are wondering:

-Intel Pentium III 800MHz (133MHz bus)
-512 MB RAM (PC 133 SDRAM, Micron)
-IBM 60GXP 40GB Hard drive using a Promise Ultra 100TX ATAcontroller
    -Sony 12X DVD Drive
    -Yamaha 8X CDR-CDRW Drive
-NVidia Geforce 2 GTS (32MB DDR)
    -Sound Blaster Live! (value edition)
    -Dazzle DVC II (PCI based)
