    Howdy All,

Not a rocket science question I'm sure, but but the icon text on my desktop are all highlighted. I'd just like to have the text below the icon without the highlighting. Can't seem to find where to get rid of it???????? I've already tried:
start/controlpanel/system/advanced/performance/settings/adjust for best appearance with no change so any other angles??

Here's a pic of what I mean. All the desktop icons have a square highlighted background on the text.

    Cheers,
    Darren

It's probably just a matter of just changing your background color.

I've tried right click/properties/desktop and cant find anywhere to disable or not highlight the icons. I can only change the color and they still show up like this regardless of what color is chosen

Try changing the color of the text.... I think that's a automatic. If the text color falls within a certain pixel range of your background you won't see it so windows automatically highlights it for you.

Try the 'Let Window$ Choose...' option where you were earlier. The other option would be changing the background color to Black on the Desktop Tab of Display Properties.

EDIT: Glad you got it worked out.

  7. Here's the way I fix it.

    Right click "My Computer"
    Click "Properties"
    Click "Advanced" Tab
Click "Settings" in the Performance window
Under the Visuall effects tab click Custom box
then Check the "Use drop shadows for icon labels on the desktop

    That works for me

That's only if you set it to "Best Performance"
