Hi
Fist of all does conversion speed increase due to amount of RAM or Processor?
Anyway
Iam about to by a this computer =-
SUS CUSI-M Tower.
Celeron 700, 80 meg ram (14 used buy video),4gb HDD,C/D,Floppy.
Onboard,Sound,Video,Game,2xusb,lan,lpt,Com.
Modem, Extra com riser and 3xusb riser. 2 spare PCI.
Overclock-able and takes various other CPU (Socket 370).
How long will this generally take to encode 59 min svcd. on current system which is p3 700 mhz 152 RAM (rest taken by video card). it takes about 17-18 hrs

It's all CPU power, the system you want to buy will be no faster and maybe a little slower than the current one. You will need to upgrade the CPU to make it faster and the conversion time will drop according to the speed of the cpu. eg 2X faster = 1/2 the time
