  1. I normally use +R/RW discs but I decided to give -R media a try and bought this RiDisc 25-disc cakebox. I couldn't believe my eyes when I saw the Media ID. I thought it was gonna be RITEKG05 or something like that but all 3 programs reported the same code MCC02RG20 !! I searched the database here and found big brands like Mitsubishi and Verbatim use this media. Is it a fake ID or am I just lucky?

Burning has been going well so far at 8x.

    Here is the cakebox: http://www.ridisc.com/minusr/blue8x.htm
And someone here got the same UPC/EAN code 5060043493677 but different Media ID: https://www.videohelp.com/dvdmedia.php?selectmedia=2448
    A review, RITEKG05 as well: http://www.dvd-recordable.net/Reviews+index-req-showcontent-id-80.phtml

What is the serial number printed on the dye side of the disc surrounding the hub area? It has kind of a holographic effect so you have to hit the light at the right angle to see it.

That is most definitely a legit Mitsubishi/Verbatim serial number for 8x DVD-R.

How about posting Q-Check PI/P0 SUM8 scan of one of those discs you burned? I haven't had much luck with that media code and my PX-712A.

Here it is. This is my first time with this sort of graph and I have no idea what it means.

lordyu, those are about the same results I get with these discs. The PIE errors increase dramatically near the outer edge which may necessitate drives slowing down to read that portion of the disc. I've only tested made in Taiwan MCC02RG20; the quality of the Singapore discs is generally better but they're hard to find.

Thanks. Is the brand also RiDisc?

I have more scans here of other discs of the same MCC02RG20.

BTW, I've seen other people's scans using PlexTools like me but with rather different looks of output, e.g., they also have numerical figures below the graph and there is no menu and drive listing on the left. You can find many of them here: http://club.cdfreaks.com/showthread.php?t=115081 . How can I turn that on?

And how do I change the reading speed? It seems to be at 2x or something.
