authoring mpeg1 42hz basically vcd specs, on TDA. I know TDA converts the audio to 48hz automatically. But would it be much faster if they were already 48hz?

Right now it takes me about 45 minutes to author a full dvd in TDA they are all mpeg1 42hz. What i want to know is, if i were to recode them before bring into TDA, i know it would be somewhat faster but how much faster?

If its not that much faster than it would be no point in doing this because ill waste even more time doing batch encoding for them. I have hundreds of gigs to do this to. Which way do you think its faster? Is it worth the trouble and going thru and recode to 48hz before bringing it to TDA?

I can't really say how much faster, but I did quite a few mpg1 files and it was faster to convert the audio first. But the biggest time-saver was the fact that I could convert the audio in batchs- so I could set up several hours to convert and start it before I went to bed. The hour(s) it spent working while I was sleeping was time I didn't have to keep coming back to start the next project in TDA.

SSRC is fastest, and most accurate sampling converter I know of. Although I haven't done any speed comparison, Im rather sure it would do considerably faster with upsampling to 48kHz than TDA's own built-in sampling convertor.

If you dont want to "play" with command lines, you can use it as an external plugin in i.e. TMPEG Encoder (add it by going to Options/Environmental Settings/Audio engine/Sampling frequency convertor - select external, hit Browse button, navigate to where you saved SSRC.exe)

    BTW - VCD is 44.1kHz, not 42kHz...

i would use SSRC but command lines are confusing and intimidating.
