  1. Thanks for all the help on trying to capture a picture from a VCD. I figured out I have an out of date powerDVD. I have a program Riptide and it looks like I have capture the picture I want. I save as a jpg but when I open it, the frame around it is there but the picture is black. Would changing the resolutions,or other settings help or should I just give up until I upgrade.

Quick and easy way I do it is to just load the mpg into Virtualdub and go to the frame I want to cap. Hit PrtScn and paste into Photoshop.

  3. Try Clip-Snipe (http://clip-snipe.sourceforge.net). While it's primarily an editor, it will also do captures (and the price is right- $0).

first Copy the vcd movie to HDD. then play the file by vcd cutter 4.03 and move the slider or hold Arrow key for snap a frame. when desired frame U view on screen, release arrow key and hit F4 or click snap buttom. It will extract your frame and save it in BMP format to default folder.
At last you use Photoshop to edit your picture.

Many ways to skin a cat: Play it with PowerDVD, use the snapshot function.

Yet another way is if you have a good image editing app they always have screen capture utility's.
