I don't think joining 50 .avi files is "easy" in quicktime pro 6.
    terryj please explain how.

the not-easy way in qt pro:
move the playhead to the end of the first movie, then drag and drop in each subsequent movie one at a time. If you drag all the rest of the movies in at one time, they won't come be in the proper order. Or am I wrong?

This assumes you have the proper codecs (quicktime components) installed to make your avi play in qt.

Another joiner is called Rosetta, but it doesn't seem as easy to find as it used to be.

    good luck -- sdm

  5. D-Vision 3.0.3 joins (or splits) AVI files very quickly. Cliick the tools button in the upper right corner. You can join many AVI's at once if they're all the same type.

As far as I remember you don't need to move the playhead at all. Open all 50 files. Select all (command-A) in the 2nd clip, copy (command-C), click on 1st clip, paste (command-V), select all in 3rd clip, copy, click on 1st clip, paste, select all in 4th clip, copy, click on ... etc etc. Sure you have to copy and paste 50 times, but thats gotta be easier than selecting 49 files in the file dialog box with a standalone joiner. 5 minutes of work.

Yup thats another way. I think dragging and dropping is quicker .. btw you only have to move the playhead once.

I've tried D-vision as suggested by NancyS.
It works like a charm, You can select all 50 files in the finder and drop them into the "files to join" window. From here its a batch process approach

thoughton hit it on the head as to how to use QT PRo 6.
not elegant, but it gets it done.

Rosetta was part of the long defunct Thoth Newsgroup suite of tools ( Thoth, Osiris, Rosetta) created by Brian Clark.
his website should still be around ( thothsw.com),
but i don't know if you contact him, he might be able to help you.

The only thing with Rosetta is, it tends to put a sec of white space at the end and beginning of the join, which can
make a supposed seamless project look rough.
