In the manual its states cartridge type 2 and 4.(page 17)
Can type 1 be used,should i buy panasonic or verbatim cartridge media

Yes, you can only if they are either 4.7GB or 9.4GB, however, both 2.6GB and 5.2GB ones are not compatible. But remember that Type 1 discs have a non-removable cartridge, so you can only use them with recorders/drives which can accept cartridge type discs. Most newer drives and recorders can only accept non-cartridge type DVD-RAM discs, and Panasonic seems to be the only one still supporting both types.
