  2. Sri, to hold files larger than 4GB you need to have your file system set as NTFS not FAT32. Win ME does not support this, you will need to upgrade to win2000 or winXP. What this means is that you cannot make an ISO image of a disk to store on your hard drive. You might be able to rip in file mode but as i don't have FAT32, i am not sure about that.

Now you know. Win 98,ME do not support files greater than 4 gig. That is why I have XP, which does. You need the NTFS file format for that, which XP provides

Thats just basically telling you that you can't have filesizes bigger than 4GB as the FAT32 filesystem doesn't support this, but NTFS does

You can really ignore this as I have yet to come across a DVD that has VOB files bigger than 1GB anyway, and the default options for DVD Decrypter are to split any large VOB' s to 1GB anyway, so you shoudl never get this problem

Have a look at my guide, that shows you how to rip, transcode and burn any DVD using DVD Decrypter and DVD Shrink, without worrying about the 4GB file problem

When DVD Shrink is creating the ISO image file that DVD Decrypter uses to burn the DVD, this is also automatically split so you will never come across the 4GB file problem with this either

I know, as I used to use a FAT32 partition, and the ISO image was split automatically, so never encountered the error, once the right settings are choosen

My guide explains all this ..... any problems, questions or requests email me and I'll do my best to help

I use this method personally, for full DVD or main movie only, so can confirm it works perfectly everytime

You CAN use a lot of software, but if they use filesizes bigger than 4GB you'll run into problems, using my guide you WILL be able to backup your DVD's without any problems and without having to upgrade to the NTFS filesystem

Again, I can confirm this, as I have NTFS on some partitions, but not all, and can guarntee you DO NOT need NTFS using my guide and changing a couple of settings in DVD Decrypter and DVD Shrink will avoid the 4GB file barrier

I'm pretty sure that this is just a warning, and not a critical error. I have read that DVDDecrypter will still create ISO files under FAT32, but it splits them at 1GB if I'm not mistaken. All it means is that when you go to burn, make sure you choose the MDS file that it creates for you, and you shouldn't have any issues whatsoever.

    EDIT:
Just did a bit of research (google ), and all you have to do is set the ISO file splitting to any value under 4GB in DVDDecrypter, then make sure you load the MDS file when you go to burn, and you won't have any worries with FAT32 file restrictions.

    From 3.0.0.14 changelog:
ISO Mode improved to split files at 4GB when written to FAT/FAT32 drives.
... or you can just rip in file mode and it'll never be a problem
    If in doubt, Google it.
