Can you post your log file? Log files are kept in the logs filder under where you installed the program.

The log file was 84MB due to a huge amount of buffer underflow messages, so I deleted most of those. I made a note in the file.

Thanks for your help! -
Hi there Chrissy Boy,
I have converted my VOB files using VOB2MPG - was quick and super straight forward. however, when I try importing the newly converted MPG files into Premiere, only the Audio appears - there is no visual. Is there a setting I need to be aware of to rectify this? Or do I first need to treat the original VOB somehow before converting it? I have been able to play the new MPGS in Media PLayer without a hitch. Please help me - I need to use the footage urgently for a project I am creating for work and am SUPER stuck! Thank you - Lolybina -
I am not familiar with Premiere, but is it possible that you need to demux the file for use?

Hi there KikChung - thank you for responding, but I am not familiar with demux...what is it and what does it do? How does it work?
Thank you
lolybina -
Demuxing is separating the file into its separate component parts - audio and video. The simplest tool I have used for this is TmpgEnc (under 'mpeg tools'). Your help section or manual for premiere should tell you whether you need to demux or not... have you used mpg video in premiere before?
If you are simply wanting to edit and combine the mpgs, I would recommend VideoRedo for simplicity and function.Dwight

For whatever reason, I cant get this program to work.
I load my .VOB file and click start and it finishes it in .01 seconds with no results.I have .net 1.1 and 2.0 installed so I know it isn't that.
I have emailed you a sample with subject name VERY FAST -
"I load my .VOB file " - do you mean your VIDEO_TS folder? Can you attach your log file? Log files are created in the logs filder under where you installed the program.

No.I do not have a VIDEO_TS folder because I only have one file and it is a .vob
This is a DVD file that has no menu or anything, just strictly the show in a single .vob

I think that VOB2MPG 2.3 fails on VOB files greater than about 2GB.
I have a directory of .VOB files (produced by DVDShrink). If I use VOB2MPG on the directory, the files of size 2,003,896 KB and 2,036, 424 KB work fine; while the other files (the smallest of which is 2,122,124 KB) produce 0 length outputs. I can reproduce this on other directories.
Thanks. -
Why do you convert Vob files whit a program !!!!
U don´t need any program.
Just rename your .vob file to .mpg, it works perfect. (and u have audio too)
Ex. : videofile.VOB (rename) videofile.mpg
Good luck....

I use VOB Blanker to get the cells I want so that the entire dvd does not have to be converted. This worked very nicely the first time as I was working with only a 92MB VOB and converted to MPEG.
Second time around however on a different VOB (114MB) , it just goes thru it in 1 second and nothing is created. I've rebooted, uninstalled, rebooted, installed and still the same. I have not changed anything that I know of.
what am I doing wrong? do in need something? -

CB,
this log is from 2 unsuccessfulattempts . The first is from Folder "1" which was actually successful yesterday and contained the 92MB file. The second is from folder "2" and also not successful. Output folder "cowboys".

ok the first one: "earl ricky.VOB" is not recognised. The tool expects a traditional VOBSET i.e a series of VTS_0X_X.VOB files.
The second one has issues with its headers. The video bitrate is far too low and the AC3 header is such that the sample rate can't be deduced.SVCD2DVD v2.5, AVI/MPEG/HDTV/AviSynth/h264->DVD, PAL->NTSC conversion.

ok, I think I understand on the first one ... its the naming convention?
yup, its the naming convention, I changed it to "vts_01_01" and it worked perfectly and converted to 92MB (a 1:1 conversion) in only 17 seconds !
now I wish I could fix the second one, any advice CB? -
Well without knowing what vobblanker has done i would suggest running the file through VideoReDo and its QuickStream fix. If you search this forum for "QuickStream" - you should see how to do it.

can this programme convert a single vob to mpg? does it need a vts folder to work?
-
it works on a VIDEO_TS folder and expects vobs to be named according to the dvd specs... Changing the extension of your file to .mpg may well get you where you need to be if it is a single file.

Yeah, the tool is great. It combined my 3 .VOB files quick into 1 big MPG file with sound and all. I have an odd thing though; my widescreen movie (from my camcorder) is originally 1024 X 576 pixels and the new MPG is 768 X 576. All people have strange (egghead like) heads. I know that Billy states in his second post that the movie ain't changed, but well, it happened with my movie it seems. Is there a way to keep the 1024 X 576 ?
I opened the .VOB into Windows media player 9, and looked at the summary. Then i opened the .MPG file in the same Windows media player.... I used VOB2MPG v 2.5.
The log file shows some errors (many)
