Can you used the attached tool (MakeSample) to make me a sample. Then can you email it to me and I'll take a look. (It looks like the audio bitrate is silly)

Samples recieved. Sound seems fine... Does the samples exhibit the same problem at your end? Is the audio issue on the PC or DVD player or both?

I suspect that it was an issue with the application you were using in the first instance. What was it: WMP?

Ok I will take a look at that bit of kit.

Pity as you could just run the mpg through S2D to change the audio.

Email me and i will do you a special build to output AC3 when i get a chance.

  15. This tool is just what I need, but it only works part of the time for me because it needs large amounts of memory, and the underlying ffmpeg fails when there's a shortage.

I need an alternative to VOB2MPG that can operate with 128MB physical ram, and ~512MB virtual ram, running XP Pro. Any suggestions?

BTW- I searched the tool library for "VOB to MPG" in tool features (strangely, VOB2MPG didn't show up), and the following tools were listed: MediaCoder, SUPER, TMPGEnc, TMPGEnc Plus, TMPGEnc Xpress, Total Video Converter

It doesn't look like any of them have the simplicity of VOB2MPG, and I'm setting this up for a user that will get confused when dealing with multiple split VOB files.

Hi, thanks for this handy tool. I appreciate your efforts in delivering such a nice tool for free. Keep up the good work. I have a question for you: MPG output files created from a NTSC DVD are unfortunately interlaced. Is there a chance to put a deinterlace filter option to this tool?

  17. Hi Chrissyboy. Just tried converting a video-ts folder containing 3.65gb of VOBs and all it gave me was a 6mb MPEG containing only about 30 seconds of my footage. Can you help?

The contents of my TS folder is:

Well i would use FixVTS on the VIDEO_TS folder first as it does indeed look non standard. (hence the question). Then try again. Please let me know how you get on.

  22. @ gfrobe

I had the same issue from a similar source. As ChrissyBoy said, FixVTS cleared it right up.

IF that doesn't work try ripping the disc with RipIt4Me, that has worked for me as well in similar cases.

  23. Thanks. FixVTS worked and I now have a 3.6gb mpg. One further question though. I'm now trying to import the video into Windows Movie Maker and I get one large clip with audio only and no picture. Is the output of VOB2MPG incompatible? I read the thread and tried doing a Quickstream fix with VideoReDo hoping this would solve it but no luck.

Thanks again for all your help.

  25. Yes and video plays fine using Windows Media Player. Just doesn't work in Movie Maker.

I realize this may be a limitation of Movie Maker and not a problem with the file so will continue to google for an answer. Any suggestions are appreciated though.

    Thanks.

This tool would be just incredible if it worked properly.

I'm getting the static issue too.

    But, it's totally inconsistent.

When I pull the merged mpeg into ulead editor,
the beginning starts off fine, then the sound just
    gets awful. Total static.

    But, this is what's weird.

I separated the audio from the video in ulead,
and saved the audio as a .wav.

The whole wav file was fine????

    Hope this helps.

Hi, Chris ... a question for you re: VOB2MPGs output .. you mentioned in the original post that it "goes through a whole VIDEO_TS folder and joins up the various vobsets to produce mpgs for the different titles."

Does this mean that _each_ title is assigned a discrete MPG file, or is will the created MPG files correspond to the original VOB file.

For instance, say I have a VOB that contains three titles (chapters) ... will the VOB2MPG's output be three MPG files, or a single one?

Reason I ask - I have a series of toon DVDs, for which I'd like to extract my favorites and play directly from HD (w/o having to access the DVD menu, etc) ... been doing this by ripping to HD and then using DVDShrink in reauthor mode, then pulling the title VOB out and translating to MPG - but it sounds like your tool may save me a step or two, if it's output is based upon titles/chapters, rather than originating VOB?

Hi, VOB2MPG worked great and quickly converted my vob file to a movie file. When I played it on Windows Media Player and Winamp, it played fine as long as I didn't move through the video using the slider. If I fast forwarded or rewinded, the audio would become a loud static noise. The noise would only go away if I started the video from the beginning. Is there any way to alleviate this problem? I appreciate your input. Thanks.

I am having the same problem with my fancy new computer and all the latest updates. Most of the time Vob2mpg converts about half the movie. Occasionally I get the ffmpeg.exe error needs to close etc. Previously I had no problem converting dozens of ripped dvds for streaming to my Xbox 360. Only thing I can think of is Window Media Player 11.

When I use ImTOO Platinum I can convert whole movie, to Mpeg2 and Mpeg1. Mpeg2 won't play on WMP11 (only audio), but will play on WMP 6 classic (audio and video) and on xbox 360. When I convert to Mpeg1 it plays on WMP11 and Xbox 360.

Vob2mpg was awesome and I used it almost every day. Rip, convert and stream. What gives. I have seen a few other recent post on the internet, but no cause or solutions.

Oh yes I have tried 5 different rippers and it doesn't matter. I even tried converting some of my old ripped dvds vobs that I already have Mpegs for from the good old days and they won't convert completely either.

    Thanks, Johnny
