Hi , Im new here and was wonderin if anyone can help me out with my burner.......My Set up is Win Xp pro On a Dual Amd Tyan MOBO....My problem Is my Writer wont write pass the table of contents on Cdr Burning and Will just hang there for a long time when burning Dvds...I have tried almost all Burning Software(Ie.Roxio,Nero,Copy to DVD...ect)and its all the same...my firmware was the original 1.08 from Pioneer...and recently changed to the Hacked agent Smith Firmware Hopin to Fix the Problem I have Done A seach here and read alot of'em concerning this dvr-106d and my Ide control is set to ultra dma mode 2 and my Aspi is upgraded so plz if anyone has any idea why it stopped working Because this just happened after i switch from Xp Home to Xp pro o and the media i am using now was what i have been using b4 the Xp pro

The 106d can Rip , Read , the only thing write related it can do now is drag to disk from Roxio the rest of the programs just hang after writing the table of contenets and when writing dvd movies it hangs for awhile then starts up...i discovered this by falling asleep after i tried to test it again

  4. It's like an OS or software issue if the drive was fine before the switch. I wouldn't complicate matters flashing different firmwares. You could pop it in another computer (friend's?) and if it functions fine then it points to an OS issue.

    I would do a format and clean install of XP rather than an upgrade if that was your original route.

  5. It was fine on my friends comp and it was fine and when bought my new HD's it was a clean install so im pretty sure it isnt os related also the MOBO bios is updated

    I had a simerlar problem my Pioneer 104 would read but not write, The problem turned out to be a virus got my burner after my son downloaded some shareware games. I had to reflash it with the same rev firmware before it would burn again.

    try slowing the speed down on cd's mine used too hang aswell,as for dvd's never had a problem doing them

  10. ok heres an update my drive will burn on pio mode but its pretty damn slow..(40min to burn a dvd movie) switched back to dma and it wont.....dunno what the problem could be

    when you switched from home to pro (why were running home on a dual anyway?) did you re-install the special drivers for tyan ide ? they get written over during the switch
