I read a lot about M-JPEG, I want to try one, I downloaded the trial version of
Morgan M-JPEG V3. I was able to install it on my Windows XP box without any problems.
I can see the Morgan codec in the list of video codecs installed on my machine (i.e
from the control panel) but, the codec is not listed under the compression menu of Virtualdub.
I even tried the picvideo M-Jpeg codec with no luck. Is there anything that I have missed?
Thanks in advance,
Madhu.

The only thing I can think of is that the eval version of the two products only allows for playback and not encoding. Of course, I could be wrong, and have been many, many, many, many times.

Morgan M-JPEG codec V3, should have worked on your system. Once installed it leaves a red dot in your system tray near the clock. Did that show up? You might have to reboot the PC for it to take hold.
The program uses your CPU enhanced features to improve video encoding for those who don't have MPEG hardware Encoder. It does work with Intel and AMD CPUs.
It also runs in the background when you running CAP and video editing programs.Best Regards,

I can see the Morgan icon in my system tray. I tried enabling, disabling and even reboot with no luck.
I have a AMD Athlon XP 2500+ processor with 256MB DDR ram. For video capture, I have Pinnacle PCTV stereo.
Capture with Pinnacle software works fine without any frame drops. Let me know if you need any other info.
Thanks and regards,

Well when I had the PCTV Pro Stereo, I just configured the Morgan to use CPU features for Intel, you AMD you have to use 3DNow! or 3DNow2! They should be already be active. Intel features should be greyed out. There really isn't much into this program it runs in the background you really don't see it working until you start recording, capturing and viewing.
If you don't like this program you can download Intervideo WinDVD Recorder Platinum 5 which has the same features that Morgan has when it comes to the CPU and software encoding. That might be a better program for you to use. Actually the was the last one I had used before getting rid of the PCTV Pro Stereo for WinTV PVR-150 (Hardware Base MPEG1/2 Encoder) and I use GB-PVR at www.gbpvr.com.
If you want to stick with the PCTV then use WinDVD Recorder Platinum 5x, otherwise think about going to WinTV PVR-150 that doesn't use the CPU as encoder, has its own hardware encoder chipset, sharper picture better than regular TV, no more grain or fuzz.Best Regards,
