  1. I recently formated my computer and went from Win2k to WinXP. However since I have done this I now get random reboots when I'm encoding Videos from mpeg to Xvid. The reason I say its random is becuase if I go back and rerun the exact same job its wil usually work.

When I originally built the machine I put on Nick's Xvid binaries which were from the CVS and this caused constant rebooting when encoding. I then uninstalled them rebooted, installed Koepe's stable Xvid binaries (1.0.3) and it seemed to go away but I have had it reboot again twice since then, but now its a lot more rare but still happens

The new PC is WinXP with SP2 and all the latest drivers
    Abit NF7-S
    ATI 9500pro
AMD 2500+ at 2100HMZ (temperature is not a problem)
Leadtek WinFast 2000 XP (Drivers not installed yet, so not properly installed yet)

  2. Try running at stock CPU speed.

  3. I'm going to give it a try later but I find it very unlikely since I have had it at this speed for the last year and never had a single problem, and this only started the day I reformated.

Also under full load my CPU does nto even reach 40 degrees.

I had a similar problem last year, until I opened up my PC and discovered my CD-Audio Cable had gotten caught in the CPU fan.

  5. But if my fan was not spinning then the CPU temps would be WELL over 40 degrees.

Are you asking for help, or giving it ?
    If in doubt, Google it.

  8. junkmalle told me to try my CPU at stock speed, which I said I would try on the weekend but given the circumstances I said I think its unlikely that.

Soopafresh told me to double check that my fan, and I said that my current temps are 40 degrees which rules out a failing fan.

How am I ignoring their sugestions? I have responded to each one with either I will try it, or no thats not the problem.

  9. Any-other programs do this? You also said ""Leadtek WinFast 2000 XP not properly installed yet "" I think Maybe it could be a hardware problem. How much Ram do you have? If you have Two Sticks, Take one out see if that works, if not Put it back in, and try taking the otherone out,Do this for every piece of hard-ware you have till you have ruled it out.

  10. I do have the latest drivers for the motherboard. When I installed the system I downloaded the latest Nforce Unified drivers for my mobo and installed them.

I was thinking it could be becuase of the LeadTek card not being fully installed and I was going to set that up this weekend also.

I Also don't think its the memory becuase I ran MemTest86+ on the box for over 4hours without a single error. But if nothing else fixes this problem I will try it later also.
