  1. Hallo everyone!
I need your help, I am newbie with this things but I am sure with your help I can be a very good Film maker .

    Here begins my story :
I have a Movie in xvid Avi format splittet in 2 files, and with it 2 sub/idx files for this 2 xvid avi files. I thinked to convert this avi file to a DVD, with a switchable subtitles, I searched in the Guides section and found this one http://www.dvd-guides.com/content/view/70/59/1/0/
I followed the guide well, I joined the 2 Avi Files and made them only 1 file and extracted the AC3 audio file, I converted the sub/idx files to normal text .srt files and then joined the two text .srt files to be only one srt file for the whole movie.
After that I converted the Avi file to a DVD file and called it video.m2v using TMPGen, now in the folder are the following :
    - video.m2v
    - video.srt
    - sound.ac3

Then I stopped here with the guide, the guide explains then how to author the DVD file using the "TMPGEnc DVD Author", but I didn't continue because I think that I can't make a switchable subtitles using this program.

Now the questions come : How can I continue ? What should I do to make the DVD a switchable subtitles (I mean when I run the DVD I can choose if the subtitles appear or disappear) ? Having the image subs (sub/idx) will help me do it faster or I don't need them anymore ?

Any suggestion ? Any idea ? Any comment please to solve my work as easy as I can ?

    Thanks in Advance!

no you don't have to start all over again. but dvd-lab pro isn't supersimple.

    or use

dvdauthorgui, add the m2v,ac3 and srt. done. but you can't make that advanced menus.

  5. Thanks alot Baldrick for your answer.
The programm you told me about did the job... But will there be a switchable subtitle in a standalone DVD Player or is it just in DVD Player programm ? in the programm I can switch on and off the subtitle, but I wonder if this possible on a standalone DVD Player since it doesn't have a Menu on the beginning of the Movie where I can switch the title on or off.

Second thing, I think the DVD file I encoded using TMPGEnc wasn't perfect, because the result of the DVD had errors... Is there a better programm to encode avi to dvd and does the job well and better than TMPGEnc ?

    Thanks for any help!

  6. you dont have to create a menu to select a subtitle.
