Hi Baldrick,
I've noticed that regulars who are familiar with the commonly recommended tools are regularly referring to them by their generally accepted and understood acronyms. This is fine if you're also a regular...
But for those who aren't so initiated, it can be confusing or off-putting and usually prompts the question "What is XXX?".
Would it be possible to include commonly used acronyms in the relevant tools "automatic link" list?
For example:
Include "TDA" in TMPGEnc DVD Author's list so that "TDA" becomes an automatic link to TMPGEnc DVD Author.
There's also "SSMM" for SlideShow Movie Maker.
And, "WMP" for Windows Media Player.
Might I also suggest that, if you decide to do the above, this thread either be a "sticky" or (probably better) be linked to from the "Tools" page so that others can list any common acronyms that don't attract automatic tool links.
You can then include them (or not) as you see fit.
I know it'd save me having to type "TMPGEnc DVD Author (TDA)" all the time, and it'd also save those in the dark asking what the acronym stands for.
Does anyone else have any decent other commonly used acronyms to contribute?
Cheers,
Daamon.

I seem to recall this coming up a few times (possibly in OT I think?). Anyways, there's a number of threads with things such as WTF, STFU, RTFM ... oh wait ... sorry ... IIRC, AFAIK etc etc and any other "forum-speak" acronyms that are used. Maybe you could just harvest these and put them into a sticky or as a subsection of the glossary or something?
I guess the never-ending problem is getting people to read the glossary in the first place thoughIf in doubt, Google it. -

Come on Baldrick... It's not that bad. And think of all the people it'll help - not having to explain what TDA is every time, and noobs not having to ask what SSMM is...
